The Broadway chorus

The Broadway Chorus is unique among Vancouver theatrical troupes: we mount fully-staged musicals where the script is new but the songs have been heard before. Our specialty is of course songs from the Broadway stage: old songs, new songs, songs you've never heard before, and songs you want to sing again and again.

Since we're a "chorus," we emphasize the ensemble, not the leads. We do have solos, duets, and smaller group numbers, but the star of our show is definitely the Broadway Chorus itself, who typically perform 15 to 20 songs in a full-length production. Our shows are fast-moving, funny, and fabulous, and the passion and excitement we have for our material make our shows a real treat to experience.

Chorus members meet once a week on Tuesdays at 7:00pm.  Dues are $50.00 a month but there's a $5 discount for paying on time or in advance. We rehearse in the large Main Hall at Shaughnessy Heights United Church, just west of Granville on 33rd.  Rehearsals last between two-three hours depending on how close to performance we are.

The Chorus presents two shows a season, in December and May or June. Very occasionally we present abbreviated concerts or are 'guest artists' at other variety shows, as when Anne Murray herself invited us on her Christmas special at the Orpheum.

The Chorus was formed in 1999 by Ashley Lambert-Maberly, a composer/lyricist and head of Once Upon a Theatre Productions. Since that time Ashley has conceived and produced over 30 Broadway Chorus shows.
